Eid Mubarak 1441H May 2020

After a month of fasting, we celebrate our victorious spiritual journey on the 1st of Syawal. 

This year, celebrations or rather lack of it took a different turn for Eidul Fitri. Though unable to see my parents due to the Pandemic, my sister and her housemates made it memorable for me. With my other family members, we did Whatsapp video conference call. Thank you for technologies!

Taking this opportunity after 2 years of absence writing this blog to wish all muslims all over the world EID MUBARAK!

"THE FLASH"

Nope, its not this "THE FLASH" I'm talking about:

 

 

Its about this type of FLASH called the FLASHer.

Have you encountered anyone of them? This is not NEW but unfortunately, it is still happening world wide.

Early this morning, I took the train from Ara Damansara LRT station headed to KL Sentral and changed to Monorail up to Raja Chulan Station to make it to a meeting at Hotel Istana. As I was crossing the street, a busy one of course (junction between Jalan Raja Chulan and Jalan Sultan Ismail), I saw a man walking towards me and as our path crossed he showed his little Dinky to me. As I was caught off guard, I managed to quickly ignored and rushed towards other people around. He was saying something but really rushed towards hotel istana. I didn't look back and I made it inside the hotel unfollowed and unharmed 💀. Ok, its too late to contemplate on what I should have done when faced with these type of scenarios. Ladies, just go! Do NOT engage! Get yourself to safety!. This happened in broad day light and at a quite busy intersection. You did not think something like this will happen and it did. If there's a policeman, security officers, run or walk quickly towards them. Whenever you can, please avoid walking alone. Be careful. Be extra cautious.

STAR TREK DISCOVERY SEASON 1 EPISODE 7

This particular episode is special to me. It involved time loop. One of my favorite Sci-fi subjects is Time Travel. I am sure a lot of us love to turn back time or go to the future. We are so obsessed with immortality. Everyone wants to live forever ha ha. Ok, back to the ST Disco. I watched the teaser ad. I was too excited to watch this episode. When I finally got around to watch it yesterday, I watched it twice as if I who was caught in the time loop, booyah, here goes that imagination again. Here what fascinated me; I was not intrigued by the time loop, I was more moved by the intensity of the "like" feelings between Michael Burnham and Ash Tyler. It was not "out there" but the insinuation and facial expression or lack of it created this "trying to figure things out" chemicals in my brain. Well done Sonequa martin-green! You have just entered my list of "in-awe" actors now. As for Shazad Latif, you have just entered my heart throbbing actors list woot! Congratulations both.

Oh, this is not a review by the way. This just a ranting of how excited I was watching this episode LOL. Especially watching these two birds establishing their "likeness" for each other. Super spaceship romantic!! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 In a very Vulcanic sense of humor.

 

Burnham: What I'm feeling is complicated... and strange.
Tyler: It's okay. I'm not going anywhere.
Burnham: What is it?
Tyler: I'm just sad we missed our first kiss.

 

Wooo hooo! I can't wait for the next episode. I feel like reading Mills & Boons again. 😜

WHAT HAPPENED TO MONDAY

I was in the mood for action movie. As a sci-fi junkie, I was hoping to  watch action movie that incorporated Sci-Fi. I was browsing through google for the movie genre, I stumbled upon the trailer. It looked good and so I watched.

I like William Dafoe and Glen Close since like forever ago. Its a given that its a must watch movie in my book and Noomi Rapace, I first watched her acting in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2009). She was badass then and she was badass in this movie.

 

This is the plot I kidnapped from Wikipedia and I edited a little to suit my brain:

 

In 2073, overpopulation causes a worldwide crisis, resulting in a strict one-child policy enforced by the Child Allocation Bureau (C.A.B.). When multiple children are born to one mother, all but the eldest are put into cryosleep. Karen Settman dies when she gives birth to identical septuplet (I just learned this word; hey English is not my mother tongue) sisters. Their grandfather Terrence (William Dafoe; badass! yay!) names them after the days of the week and trains them to pose as a single individual named after their mother, and to leave the house only on the day of their name. To safeguard their secret, Terrence ensures they share information on a daily basis and replicates any accident that affects one of the sisters' physical appearance. The sisters develop a system of wigs and makeup to cover any identifying features.

 

As Sunday returns from her job at a bank, she sees C.A.B. agents detain a child as onlookers protest. The siblings watch the recorded incident and debate turning themselves in, agreeing to continue their act.

 

The following day, Monday prepares her disguise as Karen, nervous about giving a presentation. At a checkpoint, Monday runs into Adrian Knowles, a C.A.B. agent who flirts with her.

 

At the bank, Monday's co-worker Jerry, a competitor for a promotion, hints at blackmailing her.

 

When Monday fails to return home, Tuesday retraces her steps. Tuesday learns Monday got the promotion and met Jerry at a bar. Before she can investigate further, C.A.B. agents detain her and cut off her communications.

 

Adrian sees Tuesday being escorted to a cell, where she meets Nicolette Cayman, head of the bureau and a candidate for parliament. Cayman explains she knows about Tuesday's siblings, and, when Tuesday offers a bribe, Caymen reveals Monday offered the same deal. Cayman orders C.A.B. agents to assassinate Tuesday's sisters.

 

This is where I leave to your imagination how the stories go on or you can watch the movie. Yes, the suspense starts here.

 

I saw Rotten Tomatoes gave 3 Stars which made me did not watch the movie at first. But, this time, I beg to differ. I enjoyed this movie enough to give it 5 Stars.

THE SPACE BETWEEN US (spoilers alert)

I watched this online yesterday. I am a fan of Gary Oldman. Therefore, he can "carry" any movie. Plot was pretty simple: A boy was born in MARS. Mom died of child birth. He was raised by a bunch of scientists on MARS. He went back to earth to find his father.

 

While watching, I could predict a few things. I knew from the very beginning who the father was. I was like, "You cheeky b%sta54!"

Anyway, we are only human and our mistake, even MARS can't sweep it under the rugs.

 

It was quite funny when the MARS boy ate MARS bar. I chuckled a little.

As a science fiction fan, there were tons of questions came to mind but what the heck it is scifi. Screw all the dangerous environmental concern etcetera.

In general, I enjoyed this movie. Kind of that feel good love story. I am however, more moved about family stuffs going on there. Light entertainment Sunday kind of movie and I am glad I watched it.

PASSENGERS (Spoilers Alert)

I watched "Arrival" before I watched this movie. If I would have watched Passengers first, I might like it more. Too bad. It supposed to be a love story but I feel there is no chemistry between Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. The plot is plausible and interesting but I feel some things are missing...oh yes...once again...its the lack of chemistry. 

Good actors sometimes do not guarantee amazing films but Fishburne got me hopeful and then the hope was deflated when I found out that his appearance was short lived. There goes my Matrix moment.
Same goes to Andy Garcia. You caught a glimpse of him only at the very last scene. Bummer. It could have been a riot.
If you still want to watch it, go ahead. Sci-fi fans can never say no to sci-fi movies. Just get ready on how much of your brain cells this movie will burn.

ARRIVAL - A MUST WATCH FOR SCI-FI FANS

I read a few raving reviews of this movie. So I had to watch it for myself. Please, before you read any further, I must emphasize that I am a Sci-Fi fan. This is because, when I am down, I watch a good Sci-Fi, then the world all of a sudden becomes better again. This movie did just that.

Well, I must admit the few scenes had me thinking,"Urghh, not another slow build up sci-fi like Interstellar (FYI: I love this movie and I watched it over and over again)". Yes, it was kind of slow build up, but I was more than willing to participate.

This movie is gorgeously filmed. Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner surely have great chemistry. Amy's expression in this movie has put her in my sci-fi A list.

I am not going to add any spoilers in this blog. If you want to read the plot, you can go to Wikipedia - Arrival. I am merely recommending this movie to those who appreciate sci-fi and time line continuum.

 

From this movie, one quote will always stay in my head: "War doesn't make winners, only widows."
